Here are some personal experiences we have had using our Irish Black bulls on our commercial herd.

Three seasons ago we used four bulls on 201 cows, fifty of which were first calf heifers. The cows summered in a nine section pasture, our bulls were with them for three months and in the fall when we pregnant checked, we had a 96% conception rate. The following season we culled our cow herd pretty deep and as a result we turned out 180 cows in the same nine section pasture with three bulls and the result was a 98% conception rate. As you can see by some of the pictures on our website we ranch in big country. Because of their structural soundness and strong sex drive, these bulls will travel great distances to get the job done.

We represent these bulls to breed a large number of cows per bull; 40 head per bull the first year due to the fact the bulls are only 18 months of age and fifty head of cows every year after.

We raise these bulls on range conditions as much as we possibly can, so when our customers purchase a bull, they are not over-weight nor are their feet sore from a high grain ration. Our bulls are ready to travel and do what we represent them to do the day you buy them.

For the mountain ranchers, the Irish Blacks are brisket disease resilient. Several high mountain ranchers in the San Luis Valley and Gunnison, Colorado have used Irish Black bulls for three or four years now, and as of yet have not had a bull or crossbred calf come off the mountain with brisket disease.
